February 2007 was a momentous event for Mindanao. It was a vision come true for Capt. JP Trajano (PAF) and the answered prayer to both BLESS Head Office and the local churches. 26 individuals responded to the call for literacy mission training. Our desire to reach more families and communities now unfolding before our eyes.
Blessing after blessing follow. Capt. Trajano was able to raise funds to start Centers in Zamboanga City. These resulted to the opening of Barangay Canelar, Talon-Talon (Zamboanga City) and Menzi (Isabela City, Basilan Province). More doors were opened. Soon BLESS reading centers in Barangay San Roque, Calarian and Ayala, Zamboanga City were opened before the year ended.
Seeing the heavy load and the need for a more efficient monitoring system, the decision to organize BLESS Mindanao came about. There was a consensus to register BLESS Mindanao with the Securities and Exchange Commission. On October 1, 2007, BLESS Mindanao received its certificate from SEC. Our office is now at Kids Builder Fun Learning Center, Macrohon Drive, Canelar, Zamboanga City. Tel. (062) 992-5135. This is also where Canelar and Sto Niño Bless Centers are located.
The coming together of the different evangelical churches to form BLESS Mindanao was considered the second victory over the enemy territories. Why? Because all these were just an off-shoot of the successes achieved by the Barangay Recodo Bless Center (started July 5, 2005), manned by Ptr. & Mrs. Roger Reponte, who were then on their 4th run when the “MRI” (Master Reading Instructor) training was conducted.
Being the “recruiter” of other evangelical churches, it is my utmost joy to see the ministry growing. After the 2nd batch of the MRI training early March 2008, Bless Mindanao has now the full force of 50 trained MRI to do ministry. The attacks of the enemy and the financial support are the two major struggles we presently are praying about.
Rejoice and pray with us on the following listed BLESS Reading Centers. We need an average of P30,000 to finance a BLESS Run per center for 4 – 5 months.
Above all pray for the spiritual growth among children and parents. We are also praying for more sponsors who can assist the financial needs of the children in their Elementary schooling. We are hoping to see individuals and organizations partnering with us.
It breaks my heart to see BLESS graduate in the street again begging for money instead of continuing their education.
The BLESS Mindanao office is also in need of the following ministry equipment: desktop computers, laptop, monthly support for our office staff, digital camera, DLP/LCD projector, scanner & printer and possibly, a lot for a permanent office space or headquarters.
To the men and women of BLESS Philippines, countless numbers of sponsors, supporters and prayer ministry partners, who have supported us in the MRI trainings, BLESS materials and other goodies for the children, a million thanks for your unselfish love for the work of the Lord.
